Binion’s Casino

Binion’s Gambling Hall is steeped in history and has been open since 1951.

It is considered one the beacons of downtown Vegas.

The Story begins in 1951 when Benny Binion bought the Eldorado Club and Hotel Apache in 1951 and reopened it as Binion’s Horseshoe.

Binion’s had a lot of firsts for Vegas casinos, they were the first to remove sawdust floors and replace them with carpet.

Binion’s was the first to offer comps to all guests, not just high rollers.

They were also to institute high limit table games, when they first opened a craps table at Binion’s had a limit of $500, ten times higher than any other casino in Las Vegas.

Eventually Binion’s raised the limit to $10,000 and even eliminated table limits at times and it was a hit with customers.

Binion’s also focused on gambling and not entertainment with no private areas for high rollers.

Believe it or not the World Series of Poker began at Binion’s in 1970.

The Binion family had multiple run-ins with the law and gaming officials over things like tax evasion and other violations with Benny Binion even spending some time in Leavenworth Prison.

Binion’s remained controlled by members of the Binion family until 2004 when it was sold to Harrah’s Entertainment who in turn sold the name and property to MTR Marketing group.

Harrah’s retained the World Series of Poker name and MTR marketing reopened Binion’s downtown.

With all the transferring of ownership can give you a headache as to who actually owns Binion’s at this point.

Hiring a lawyer can help if you’re injured at Binion’s or any downtown casino.

What To do If Injured at Binion’s Casino

Any good personal injury lawyer will tell you the steps to take immediately after being injured at a hotel casino.

We recommend that any injury should involve a few simple steps:

  1. Report the incident to hotel management or security

  2. Seek medical attention for any and all injuries no matter how small

  3. Gather evidence and witness information

  4. Contact a personal injury lawyer as soon as you can

What Not to Do!

Never sign any paperwork without seeking legal counsel. From the minute you report your injuries the hotel will try and have you sign even a statement about what happened. Never sign any paperwork without a lawyer as you could be signing away your rights to a settlement and not be aware of it.

Never give recorded statements without a lawyer present. Insurance adjusters and legal representatives will try to get a recorded statement over the phone or a written statement. Never do this, insurance companies and the casino will try and use anything you say against you to deny your claim.

Never take the first offer. Insurance adjusters work for the insurance company that works for the hotel you were injured at. Insurance companies at the end of the day are a business. They are in the business of making money so paying you a large sum for a settlement is not something they will do. They will try and send you a low ball offer early on to avoid settlement negotiations with a lawyer or going to court. Never take this offer. If you do, you risk leaving much higher compensation on the table.

Never attempt to settle without legal representation. Call Richard Harris if you’ve been injured at Binion’s Casino to make sure you have an advocate on your side. Remember the casinos have a team of lawyers on their side and you should have a team on your side too.

What Compensation Can I Recover in My Settlement?

Each casino injury case is different making every settlement negotiation different.

No two cases are the same, however a good lawyer will be able to negotiate a settlement for the following:

Medical Expenses – This includes emergency room visits and hospital stays. Everything from prescription medicines, physical therapy, medical equipment, and any future going medical treatments that are associated with your injuries.

Lost WagesLost wages include any money that would have been made during the time you were out of work due to your injuries. This includes hourly wages, salaries wages, tips, bonus and even personal time off that you would have accrued during your time. Lost wages can also include any future wages you may  not be able to earn if you are unable to return to work for a long period of time.

Pain and Suffering– Pain and suffering compensation is based on the severity of the incident and the severity of your injuries. This can include treatment for trauma or mental health issues after the accident.

Punitive Damages- Punitive Damages are given to the victim as a form of punishment of the defendant. If the court feels that a company was grossly negligent and the accident could have been avoided then the court may impose these damages. In some cases these damages can be significantly more than other damages.

Depending on the severity of your injuries and how the incident occurred will determine the settlement you can receive.

An experienced lawyer can get you the maximum compensation you deserve.
