Las Vegas Woman Is Dead After Being Hit By A Car Near Red Rock
Nevada State Police responded to a crash that happened last Tuesday night at around 7:30 p.m. near State Route 159, this is the access road to Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area.
At the scene investigators found that a 2006 Toyota Scion was heading northbound. At the same time a woman was traveling east on the shoulder while walking. The pedestrian later identified as 47 year-old Ann Kathleen Simmons of Las Vegas It is unknown at this time why Simmons than walked into the path of the Toyota and was struck and killed.
The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. The Nevada State Police Homicide Unit is investigating the case.
This area has raised concern before with other accidents and injuries reported. This is one of the main areas to the entrance of The Red Rock Conservation Area.
The city of Las Vegas is planning a redesign of these areas making it safer for drivers and pedestrians.
