Driver strikes utility pole and is critically injured in Las Vegas
On Sunday, a 27-year-old driver was critically injured after crashing into a utility pole in the east Las Vegas Valley, according to a media release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The crash occurred at approximately 5 a.m. on Nellis Boulevard near Washington Avenue. A preliminary investigation and a witness statement indicated that the driver was traveling southbound on Nellis when he ”veered off the west side of the roadway and impacted a large metal high-voltage utility pole,” police stated. The man was transported to University Medical Center’s trauma center, where trauma staff determined his injuries were life-threatening. At the time of the report, he was listed in critical condition. The crash is still being investigated by collision detectives.
