Driver flees scene of multi-car accident that left one teen dead in Las Vegas

On Tuesday night (6-20-2023), police were searching for a driver suspected of fatally injuring a pedestrian in a multi-vehicle crash in North Las Vegas. Officers with the North Las Vegas Police Department had been called to the area of Belmont Street and east Carey Avenue at 3:38 p.m. to respond to the crash involving four vehicles at a four-way stop. According to police, a juvenile female pedestrian was struck by one of the cars and pronounced dead at the scene. Based on their preliminary investigation, officers determined that a 2005 Cadillac Escalade and a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro had been ”driving recklessly” as they approached the four-way stop, where a ”white work pickup” and a blue Chevrolet Traverse were stopped. The pickup driver had advanced into the intersection when the Escalade ”failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the pickup,” police stated. The crash redirected the Escalade, which also struck the Chevrolet Traverse. It then continued northbound, began to lose control, drove onto the sidewalk, and hit the pedestrian, according to police.
