- An original work of art (includes painting, sculpture, cartoon, etc.)
- A short story or poem (maximum 2,000 words)

Winners will be featured on the Spirit of Nevada website and across all social media platforms.
Theme and Inspiration
Our 2023 entry theme, “Heart of the Golden West”, encourages students to showcase the uniqueness, beauty, and history of our great state. Students can share the amazing stories of the inspiring people, places, events, or organizations in Nevada. This can include, but is certainly not limited to, a person who enriches the lives of the community, an inspirational place of natural beauty, an organization making Nevada a better place to live, or even bringing awareness to a social cause that affects the lives of Nevadans.
Timeline
ALL entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023.
WINNERS will be announced on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Prizes
FOUR (4) middle school student winners will be chosen as the best entries on the year’s theme. There will be ONE (1) prize winning award per category. Each winner will receive $1,000 and an iPad. The teacher of each winning student will receive a $500 Amazon Gift Card.
