This painting reflects one of our oldest places in Las Vegas, Fremont Street. The subject is on a cowboy from the old western days that is lassoing a UFO which also dates back to Nevada’s history, Area 51 which is associated with aliens and UFO sightings and have reports far back to the 1950s.

The poem is about life is in Nevada and a small town called Ely. It explains the natural beauty that nature has. It also talks about the life after you leave Nevada. But it mainly talks about how Nevada is such a wonderful place in general.

“Golden Touch” taps into the creativity and visions that sparkle amongst the glittering Las Vegas lights. Nevada is a unique state with its own vibrant culture, which inspires artists, visitors, and residents alike. As a Vegas-born Nevadan, I wanted to reflect these ideals within a child getting their face painted, entranced and enchanted by the neon dreams and wild west of our state.

My artwork represents Nevada’s most popular sight and the history behind it. Before the big fancy hotels were old western towns, filled with people with dreams of finding silver. The history of Nevada is represented through the reflection of the puddle, whereas Nevada’s most famous destination is seen above the puddle. The two separate parts that make Nevada the Heart of the Golden West.

A Knights Tale
Days after the horrific Route 91 mass shooting, a new team gave our city a beacon of light via support as Las Vegas picked up the pieces. The Golden Knights became part of the fabric here in Las Vegas. They acted with quickness, strength and compassion as they got right into the community that had newly embraced them. This piece shows the Healing Garden; a place that locals and visitors alike can show remembrance, pay respect, and celebrate those who were injured. It is of particular importance to our family, as my Grandma and Dad were attendees of the Route 91 festival in 2017. My Grandma was shot that evening, and thankfully survived the horror. The Healing Garden has become a staple and light in our life, as we can always recount all the ways our community was there for us in our time of need, much like the Golden Knights displayed I am proud to be Vegas born, and Vegas Strong.
