Two children killed during crash in suspected DUI in Las Vegas, NV
In a tragic turn of events, the North Las Vegas Police Department have reported that two young children have lost their lives in a single-vehicle crash that occurred on Sunday night. Officers responding to a report of a crash in the 5000 block of North Scott Robinson Boulevard at approximately 9:16 p.m. encountered a vehicle that had struck a tree. Medical personnel were called to the scene, where one of the juveniles, believed to be around the age of a toddler, was pronounced deceased. The other juvenile, also believed to be around the same age, was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased there. The two adults, including the female driver believed to be in her 20s, remain in serious condition.
The NLVPD have indicated that the preliminary investigation suggests that a silver Honda van was travelling northbound on Scott Robinson from Lone Mountain when the driver failed to maintain the lane, sideswiping trees, a light pole, a wall and then striking a large palm tree head on. Unfortunately, it has been reported that the two juveniles were not wearing proper protective restraints. As a result, one of the toddlers was decapitated due to the force of the impact. Speed and impairment are believed to be factors in the crash.
