Woman Killed In Henderson Crash, Impairment Suspected

Henderson Police responded to a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle early Thursday morning that left the pedestrian dead and the driver of the vehicle arrested for suspected impairment.

The collision occurred just after 1:00 a.m. on Thursday near the intersection of Boulder Highway and Magic Way according to police.

Early investigation findings stated that the pedestrian was in the roadway near Magic Way when a Chevrolet Malibu struck her.

First responders from the Henderson Fire Department arrived at the scene, but the victim had suffered significant injuries to the head and was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the initial scene investigation police noticed signs of impairment from the driver of the vehicle. After the police issued field sobriety tests that the driver failed, they were taken into custody and booked in the Henderson County Jail on charges of driving under the influence resulting in death.

The crash is still under investigation and the name of the victim has not been released pending notification of the next of kin.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
