Wheelchair Bound Man Killed In Suspected DUI Crash, Downtown
Freemont Street and Oakey Avenue was the scene of a deadly pedestrian crash involving a wheelchair bound pedestrian man and a vehicle in downtown Las Vegas Sunday night.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were called to the scene of the crash at around 11:11 p.m., when according to police the pedestrian was crossing Boulder Highway south of Oakey, outside of the marked crosswalk when a 2013 Kia Optima was traveling North in the same lanes. The pedestrian entered the driving path of the Kia and was struck by the vehicle.
First responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The driver of the Kia remained at the scene, but showed signs of impairment and was arrested on DUI related charges. The name of the victim has not been released at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.
