Reno Firefighter Charged With DUI After Crash In Northwest Reno Monday

An off-duty Reno Fire Department operator was arrested on multiple charges after crashing into a car and then slamming into a brick wall in northwest Reno Monday afternoon.

Shawn C. Price, the off duty firefighter was charged with DUI and failure to maintain within the lanes after the accident on the 2300 block of Avenida de Landa at about 1 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day.

Since the suspect is a member of the Reno Fire Department the Sparks Police Department took over the investigation due to the conflict of interest with the Reno Police Department.

According to the Sparks Police Department it has been confirmed that the suspect’s vehicle crossed the centerline at high speeds before hitting a wall near Fair Oak Drive.

Police believe that both impairment and speed played a factor in the crash. Price was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries before being taken to the Washoe County Jail.

Sparks police said the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash did not seek medical attention. Price has since been released.

No more information is available at this time.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
