Northwest Las Vegas Crash Leaves One Woman Dead, Monday Evening
Metropolitan Police were called to the scene of a deadly accident Monday evening at North Buffalo Drive and West Elkhorn Road. The accident happened at around 7:05 p.m. Monday evening.
According to a statement issued by the police, a 2018 Toyota Avalon driven by an 87 year-old Las Vegas man collided with a 2007 Nissan Xterra driven by an 18 year-old Las Vegas woman. The Toyota was attempting to make a left turn and entered the path of the Nissan in the intersection of Buffalo Drive and West Elkhorn Road.
The victim, a 73 year-old woman who was a passenger in the Toyota and had to be mechanically extracted from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers were taken to University Medical Center.
There were no signs of impairment from either driver according to police. The woman’s death marks the 93rd traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction so far this year.
