Impairment Suspected In Northwest Valley Crash That Leaves A Bicyclist Dead
Police responded to a crash near the intersection of North Shaumber Road South of West Grand Teton Drive at around 7 a.m.
According to LVMPD evidence at the scene suggests that a Mercedes was driving southbound in the northbound lanes while at the same time a bicyclist who was traveling northbound was hit by the Mercedes.
First responders arrived at the scene and attempted life-saving measures, however the bicyclist passed away from injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Mercedes remained at the scene and displayed signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for charges related to driving Under the Influence and Reckless Driving. It is not known if other charges are pending.
This is the 132nd traffic-related death in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction so far this year.
