Head-On Collision Near Elko Leaves One Dead
Elko police and first responders were called to the scene of a fatal head-on collision over the weekend near the area of Bullion Road near Elko.
According to police two pick-up trucks, a Chevy Silverado and a Chevy Colorado, were involved in the crash that took place on September 14th but was just released this week.
According to police the driver of the Silverado was speeding and unable to navigate a turn at the high rate of speed. He attempted the turn but ended up crossing the center divider and ended up on the opposite side of the road and hit the Colorado head-on.
The Elko fire department was called to the scene, where three people needed to be extracted from the trucks. The driver of the Colorado, Erasmo Munoz-Haro was taken to Northern Nevada Regional Hospital were he was pronounced dead from his injuries. The other two people that were extracted were transported to other hospitals to receive medical treatment.
It is believed that speed and impairment are both suspected in the crash.
