Elderly man dead after being struck by vehicle near S Valley View and Diablo
A 72-year-old pedestrian was killed on Friday night after being struck by a vehicle. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that the incident occurred at 5:11 p.m. at the intersection of S. Valley View Boulevard and W. Diablo Drive. According to investigators, evidence found at the scene indicated that a 2017 Ford F150 was traveling north on Valley View Boulevard. As the vehicle approached the intersection at Diablo Drive, the pedestrian entered the path of the vehicle, outside of a marked crosswalk. The 21-year-old driver remained at the scene, called 911, and tried to assist the injured man. Police and medical personnel arrived and determined that the pedestrian could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at the scene. This is the seventh traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction in 2024. Investigators confirmed that the driver did not show any signs of impairment. The collision is currently being investigated.
