69 year-old in wheelchair killed on roadway in Las Vegas, NV
On Friday December 16th, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police reported a fatal crash in Las Vegas. Tragically, one person lost their life as a result of the pedestrian accident. The collision took place at the intersection of South Las Vegas Boulevard and East Agate Avenue, where a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV was traveling northbound. The pedestrian, who was using a motorized wheelchair, attempted to cross from east to west using an unmarked implied crosswalk. Unfortunately, the SUV entered the intersection and struck the wheelchair, ejecting the pedestrian into the roadway. Emergency services were quick to respond and transported the victim to University Medical Centers Trauma in serious condition. Sadly, the pedestrian later passed away due to the injuries sustained in the accident. Impairment was not seen as a factor in the crash.

From 2015 to 2019, the number of pedestrian fatalities and fatal crashes generally increased. A total of 378 fatalities and 368 fatal pedestrian incidents occurred on Nevada roadways.
