Suspected DUI Crash With Semi Truck Leaves One Dead
The intersection of Washington Avenue and North Decatur Boulevard was the scene of a deadly crash Monday, September 15th at 10:35 a.m.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police the crash involved a semi truck and an SUV.
Investigators believe that a GMC Terrain was driving at a high rate of speed going east on Washington, while a Mack Anthem semi-truck was exiting a private driveway and turning onto westbound Washington.
The GMC crashed into the side of the Mack truck and ended up under the Mack truck. The driver of the SUV had to be mechanically extricated from the vehicle, according to police.
First responders pronounced the driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old Las Vegas man dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck, 43-year-old David Carr of Henderson showed signs of impairment after a field sobriety test and was arrested and booked on DUI related charges.
This is the 115th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction so far this year.
