Impaired driver strikes and kills pedestrian in Las Vegas


On Tuesday morning, a fatal accident occurred on Las Vegas Boulevard. At 2:17 a.m., police received reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a white Chevrolet Trailblazer. Evidence at the scene and video surveillance showed that the pedestrian had been crossing Las Vegas Boulevard at Caesars Palace Drive in a marked crosswalk from west to east against a `do not walk` pedestrian signal, while the vehicle had a green traffic signal. The pedestrian was hit by the left front of the Chevrolet and sustained mortal injuries, resulting in their death. The driver of the Chevrolet showed signs of impairment and was arrested after failing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. They were booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
