Elderly woman killed crossing the street on E Tropicana
An 82-year-old woman was pronounced dead on Wednesday night after being hit by a vehicle. Las Vegas police reported that the incident occurred at 7:06 p.m. on East Tropicana Avenue, east of Calle Del Mar. Evidence found at the scene suggested that a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was traveling in the westbound direction on East Tropicana Avenue. It was at this point that the elderly pedestrian attempted to cross the street outside of a designated crosswalk and was struck by the Silverado. She was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Silverado remained at the scene and did not exhibit any signs of impairment.
The Las Vegas police are continuing to investigate the accident and have not released any further information at this time. It is unclear if any charges will be filed against the driver of the Silverado. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
