Bicyclist Killed On I-80 In Sparks After Hit And Run WIth Truck
Westbound I-80 was the scene of a fatal crash early Saturday morning. The accident happened at around 5:10 a.m. in Sparks on I-80 just east of Vista Boulevard.
Nevada State Police responded to the crash scene involving a bicyclist and a semi-truck. Evidence and the preliminary investigation indicates that a man was riding a bicycle on westbound I-80 and was struck by a tractor-trailer. The bicycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The truck fled the scene and police are searching for a semi-truck, possibly a Kenworth that may have right-front end damage and a white number 122.
Westbound I-80 at the crash scene was closed for several hours as police investigated and cleared the scene.
Nevada State Police are asking for any information in this case. The bicyclist has not yet been identified pending notification of next of kin.
