Arizona Motorcyclist Dies In Crash Near Ely On Monday
Nevada State Police are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash near Ely Monday night.
According to state police the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m on Monday February 17th on U.S Highway 6, near mile marker 34 in White Plains County.
Evidence from the preliminary investigation showed that a burgundy Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on US-6 in the northbound lane. According to police the rider was traveling at a high rate of speed that was too fast to negotiate the curved roadway and the motorcycle hit the guardrail.
The motorcycle was redirected to the right and crossed over the northbound lane into the southbound travel lane. The motorcycle then overturned and the rider was ejected from the motorcycle.
The accident that occurred about 4 miles south of Ely left rider Samuel Weeks , 41, of Apache Junction, Arizona dead of his injuries at a nearby hospital. The crash is currently under investigation by the Nevada Highway Patrol.
