9 Year Old California Girl Dies After DUI Related Crash In North Las Vegas
9 year Sophia Sandoval of Porterville, California was identified as the girl killed in a DUI related crash in North Las Vegas.
According to police she died of her injuries after the Corvette she was a passenger in crashed causing the deadly crash.
The accident occurred when 63 year Christina Sorensen was at a red light on Simmons St. trying to make a left on Ann Rd.
Ignoring the red light, Sorensen made the left into the path of a black Jeep that could not avoid Sorensen in her Corvette.
Several witnesses attempted to help the 9 year old until first responders arrived. She was taken to UMC children’s hospital where she later died of her injuries. The driver of the Jeep was taken to UMC trauma center with injuries.
Sorensen showed signs of impairment and was arrested on several charges including child endangerment resulting in death, DUI resulting in death and reckless driving resulting in death. Police are still investigating this case.
