38-year-old Kurt Englehart of Reno pronounced dead after hit-and-run crash
A crash early Saturday in southeast Reno left one driver dead and the Reno Police Department arrested the other driver who allegedly fled the scene. Elmer Rueda-Linares, 18, was booked by police on a felony charge of hit-and-run causing death. The two-vehicle crash had occurred on Saturday at around 4:27 a.m. at Kietzke and Peckham lanes, according to police. The sole occupant of one vehicle was declared dead at the scene. The other vehicle had an undisclosed number of occupants who had left the scene, police reported. The individuals were later found by the police, who determined that Rueda-Linares was the driver and subsequently arrested him.
Police believed that impairment was a factor in the crash, but did not release any other details. The victim of the hit-and-run crash has been identified as 38-year-old Kurt Englehart of Reno, who was a staffer for Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. The incident occurred on Saturday morning and resulted in the death of Englehart. The driver of the other vehicle, Rueda-Linares, was arrested by the Reno Police Department on charges of hit-and-run causing death.
