Woman arrested after fatal hit-and-run in Las Vegas, NV
Early Saturday morning, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) arrested a 19-year-old woman in connection with a tragic hit-and-run crash that occurred around 4:25 a.m. near E. Lake Mead Boulevard and the Mt. Hood Street intersection. The incident involved a silver sedan that was driving eastbound on Lake Mead when a female pedestrian attempted to cross the street. The vehicle struck the 24-year-old pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and proceeded to drive away without stopping. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim once next of kin has been notified. Joanna Meza, 19, from North Las Vegas, was taken into custody by the LVMPD in connection with the crash. The police had been actively searching for the car involved in the incident prior to the arrest.
