Pedestrian Dead After Being Struck By A Car At I-80 East At University Way In Reno
Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a crash at University Way off the eastbound I-80 in Reno, Monday night. The accident was reported around 10:30 p.m. as a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash.
According to the initial investigation by Nevada State Police an SUV was heading east on Maple Street entering the on-ramp when it struck a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a woman who has not been identified was taken to the hospital where she later died of her injuries. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with police. It is not known if the pedestrian was crossing in the marked crosswalk, obeying traffic signals. Pedestrians should always follow all traffic signals and walk within the marked crosswalk.
