Elderly man struck by several vehicles and killed in Spring Valley
A 71-year-old man tragically died after he was hit by two vehicles in a Spring Valley Intersection on Sunday night. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that the incident occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Flamingo and Lindell roads. According to police, the man was crossing southbound in the marked crosswalk against a pedestrian signal when he entered the eastbound lanes of Flamingo Road and was hit by a 2015 Lexus IS250. The driver of the Lexus stopped and was rear-ended by a 2023 Hyundai Genesis GV70, redirecting the car to the right and running the pedestrian over. The man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither driver or passengers were hurt.
Metro officials noted that impairment did not contribute to the crash, making it the 136th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction this year. The department’s Collision Investigation Section is still investigating the collision.
