Driver killed in wrong-way crash in Nye County
A driver was killed in a wrong-way crash in Nye County. According to Nevada State Police, the crash occurred at 2:10 a.m. on Monday near U.S. 95 and mile marker 41. To provide context, this is approximately 19 miles south of Beatty and 85 miles north of Las Vegas. Authorities reported that a 2008 Scion xD was traveling in the wrong direction on U.S. 95 and was approaching a semi-trailer that was heading northbound. The semi attempted to avoid the Scion by swerving to the left side of the road. However, the semi was unable to avoid the collision and the Scion collided with it, causing it to burst into flames.
The driver of the Scion was declared dead at the scene. As of Thursday night, their identity has not been released. The police are still investigating the crash and have not released any further information at this time. It is not known if any other individuals were involved in the crash or if there were any other injuries. This is a developing story and more details will be provided as they become available.
