Southeast Las Vegas Valley Crash Leaves Wheelchair Bound Man Dead Early Sunday

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was called to the scene of a deadly pedestrian accident near El Capitan Way and West Flamingo Road early Sunday morning.

The accident happened at approximately 5:20 a.m. and left a wheelchair bound man dead.

According to reports a 2024 Kia FOrte was heading eastbound on Flamingo in the right travel lane when a man in his 50s to 60s crossed the roadway outside the marked crosswalk and did not follow traffic signals.

As the man in the wheelchair was crossing Flamingo he came into the path of the Kia. The front of the vehicle hit the man, throwing him from the wheelchair and having him land in the roadway.

First responders took the pedestrian male to the hospital, despite life saving measures the man was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Kia remained at the scene, cooperated with police and showed no signs of impairment.

<p.This is the 148th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2025.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
