Vehicle Collision Near Circa Leaves A Pedestrian Dead And The Driver Arrested
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were called to the Circa Resort area at around 8:50 a.m. on Saturday, August 9th. According to police a Cadillac Escalade had hit a pedestrian near the Circa resort at 1st Street and Ogden Avenue.
With early investigation it is believed the Escalade was stopped and reversed from the stop after an altercation with an unknown male. At about the same time the pedestrian approached the area. The driver of the vehicle backed up in an unsafe manner and hit the pedestrian and continued to reverse even after hitting the pedestrian. The rear wheels of the Escalade ran over the victim before the vehicle came to a stop. The Escalade then pulled forward causing the car to run over the pedestrian again before hitting two guard poles near the loading dock at The Circa Resort.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where they died of their injuries. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested on DUI related charges.
This is the 101st traffic-related fatalities this year in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction.
