Police received a call that a woman was injured and found on Polaris Avenue just north of Highland Drive.

Police found evidence through video surveillance that showed a 2013 Ford Fusion traveling south on Polaris Avenue heading toward S. Highland Drive.

The Ford Fusion appeared to pull over to the curb and stopped, the front passenger door was than opened, and a 38 year-old woman , who was not been identified appeared to fall out of the vehicle onto the roadway.

Another motorist spotted the woman and called police. The woman was taken to University Medical Center’s Trauma Center with critical injuries and later died from those injuries.

According to the investigation by the Clark County Coroner’s Office the injuries that resulted in her death were consistent with being struck by an unknown vehicle.

Speeding was responsible for an average of 30 deaths per day in 2022, resulting in a total of 11,000 traffic-related fatalities. It was a factor in 29 percent of all deaths on Nevada roads that year. This alarming statistic stresses the importance of following speed limits and driving safely.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
