Woman passenger killed in high-speed crash on Silverado Ranch

A woman was killed in a crash on Wednesday morning, according to Las Vegas police. The incident occurred at 1:41 a.m. on East Silverado Ranch Boulevard, east of Bermuda Road. Police stated that evidence found at the scene, along with witness statements and video surveillance, indicated that a 2022 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling eastbound on Silverado Ranch, approaching Bermuda Road. A 2023 Mazda MX5 was also heading eastbound and police reported that both vehicles were traveling ”at a high rate of speed”. The two cars passed through the intersection and collided, causing both drivers to lose control.

The Chevrolet spun and crossed into the westbound lanes before crashing into a retaining wall. The Mazda also spun and left the road, hitting a light pole and a tree. A 24-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene. Police stated that both drivers were arrested on charges related to participating in a speed contest. Although the 24-year-old man who was driving the Chevrolet did not show any signs of impairment, the 26-year-old driver of the Mazda did exhibit signs of impairment.

No more information is available at this time.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
