Two killed and injuries reported in Reno accident this week

Two people were killed and another was injured following a two-vehicle collision in the Reno area on Monday, April 8. The deadly accident was reported on Interstate 80 WB near USA Parkway that evening around 6:49 p.m. Local sources revealed that the driver of a passenger car had rear-ended a semi-truck. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to render the necessary aid to the involved parties. The driver and one passenger in the vehicle suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment of sustained injuries.

The area was temporarily closed while emergency responders were present. The identities of the involved parties have been withheld. No other injuries were reported at that time. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident was being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more information was provided as it continued. The accident was believed to have occurred due to the passenger car failing to maintain a safe distance from the semi-truck. It serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of safe driving practices and following traffic regulations to prevent such accidents from happening in the future.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
