Pedestrian struck twice and killed on Sandhill Road

Evidence at the scene, witness statements, and video surveillance suggested that the pedestrian was crossing westbound across South Sandhill Road outside a marked crosswalk. At the same time, a 2006 Ford F-250 was traveling northbound on South Sandhill Road on the left of two travel lanes. Police said the collision happened when the pedestrian crossed the Ford’s travel path, was hit, and then projected northwest, coming to rest in the southbound travel lanes.

Afterwards, an unknown tan or cream-colored sedan drove over the downed pedestrian and drove away south without stopping. Medical personnel at the scene declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford stayed on the scene, showed no signs of impairment, and cooperated with police.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
