Pedestrian killed after accident on Blue Diamond Road
A 56-year-old man has died Monday morning after being hit by a car on Blue Diamond Road in southwest Las Vegas, according to information from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The incident occurred at approximately 8:54 a.m. near the intersection with Mohawk Street, located between Jones and Decatur boulevards.
Detectives who were investigating the collision used evidence found at the scene, a witness statement, and surveillance footage to determine that the man had attempted to cross southbound across Blue Diamond Road outside of a marked crosswalk before being struck by a Ford Mustang.
”The pedestrian had failed to yield the right of way to the vehicle and crossed in front of the Ford’s travel path…” stated the police in a press release.
Authorities report that emergency medical personnel had assessed the man and determined that he was beyond resuscitation, declaring him dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Mustang had remained at the scene, called 911, and showed no signs of impairment, according to the police.
