Pedestrian critically injured and police still seeking SUV that fled the accident on Charleston Blvd

Las Vegas police were seeking a vehicle that had been involved in a hit-and-run crash that had left one person with life-threatening injuries on Wednesday night. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision had occurred around 9:33 p.m. on West Charleston Boulevard, east of South Decatur Boulevard. Evidence at the scene, witness statements, and video surveillance had revealed that a “gray or silver SUV” had been traveling west on Charleston, while a pedestrian had been crossing outside of a marked crosswalk. The front of the SUV had collided with the pedestrian, redirecting him into the intersection where he had come to rest. The pedestrian had been transported to the University Medical Center’s Trauma Center with “life-threatening injuries,” according to police.

The SUV driver had failed to remain at the scene and had fled westbound on Charleston. Police had stated that the vehicle’s year, make, and model were currently unknown, though the vehicle should have moderate to major front-end damage and a broken windshield. The collision had remained under investigation.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
