One killed in multi-car accident in Reno


According to NV Highway patrol an accident occurred Thursday October 20th in the morning (around 6am) that resulted in a single death on the I-80 near Reno, NV. Police stated that a Volvo sedan made a lane change in the path of a van which then struck the Volvo and forced it to cross into oncoming traffic where it was struck by a Hyundai sedan. Tragically the Volvo driver did not survive and was pronounced dead on scene. The Hyundai driver was rushed to the hospital with major injuries as well it is not currently known their condition. Several lanes of traffic remained blocked for some time as police worked the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and no more information is available at this time.

At least as many as 26 traffic fatalities occurred in December of 2021 alone, 382 traffic fatalities in the year of 2021. That’s an 18% increase from the number of deaths in 2020 and a 21% increase from the fatalities recorded in 2019.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
