One killed in accident near Mojave Drive in Victorville

At least one person died at the scene of a crash on Friday morning. It happened at around 11:19 a.m. at the intersection of Mojave Drive and East Trail, in Victorville.

The Victorville Fire Department, AMR, and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies with the Victorville Station responded and found two vehicles: a gray pickup truck with front-end damage and a gray Chrysler PT Cruiser with rear-end damage. Despite their attempts to save the person, they were pronounced dead at the scene, and another person was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

One witness, Danelle Orta, said she was driving behind the pickup truck when the crash occurred. “I was driving behind this elderly man. He wasn’t speeding. I believe he must have had a medical emergency,” stated Orta. “He just slammed into the back of the PT Cruiser without braking.” Orta said she went up to the man to ask if he needed help, and that’s when he made eye contact, closed his eyes, and passed away.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
