Motorcyclist in critical condition after accident near E Flamingo Road

A motorcyclist was hospitalized with ”life-threatening injuries” following a collision in the southeast Las Vegas valley on Saturday. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred around 11:40 a.m. at East Flamingo Road and McLeod Drive, involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.

Police said evidence at the scene and statements from witnesses indicated a 2001 Yamaha R6 had traveled eastbound on East Flamingo Road in the right-turn lane approaching McLeod Drive. At the same time, a 2019 Nissan Frontier had approached McLeod Drive westbound on East Flamingo Road. An investigation determined that the collision occurred when the Nissan had conducted a left turn to travel south on McLeod Drive as the Yamaha traveled through the intersection from the right-turn lane. The Yamaha struck the left front of the Nissan and was redirected to the east while ejecting its rider. The Nissan pulled to the side of the roadway and remained at the collision scene.

Police said the driver showed no signs of impairment. Arriving emergency medical personnel transported the Yamaha’s rider to Sunrise Hospital’s Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
