Motorcyclist Dead After Crash In Southwest Valley Early Monday
An accident was reported early Monday , February 24th at 3:37 a.m. at the intersection of South Fort Apache Road and West Sunset Road according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
A 2012 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling North on Fort Apache in the left lane heading towards Sunset Road. At the same time a ,2024 Harley Davidson RH974S Nightster was heading west on Sunset Road in the middle travel lane, approaching the Fort Apache intersection.
The motorcycle had the red light at the intersection and the Chevy had the green light. The crash occurred when the motorcycle failed to stop at the red light and was speeding into the intersection when the Chevy who had the green light entered the intersection. The motorcycle hit the front of the Chevy and was thrown from the bike.
The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene by first responders. The driver of the Chevy remained at the scene and cooperated with police and impairment does not seem to be a factor.
The driver of the Chevy sustained minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation by LVMPD. This is the 30th traffic related fatality in the LVMPD jurisdiction so far this year.
