Head-On Crash Leaves Two Drivers With Serious Injuries In The Southeast Valley, Tuesday

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a head-on wrong way crash that left two drivers with serious injuries Tuesday night in the Southeast Valley.

The crash was reported at 5:27 p.m. om East Sunset Road just east of South Pine Street. According to police a 2020 GMC Terrain was heading westbound on Sunset Road in the left travel lane when for some reason it veered left and struck the center median. The GMC then traveled westbound in the eastbound lanes and struck a 2010 Honda Accord traveling in the left lane.

The driver of the GMC, a 39-year-old female sustained life-threatening injuries, and the driver of the Honda, a 29-year-old female suffered serious injuries. Both drivers were taken to Sunrise Hospital for treatment.

Police are using evidence from the scene, witness statements and video surveillance to investigate the crash but the reason the GMC veered into oncoming traffic is still unknown, according to police.

No more information is available at this time.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
