Driver arrested after another local child struck while riding his bicycle

Another local youth had been hit by a car while riding their bicycle last week, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed on Wednesday. Police were investigating the collision, which had been reported at 6:51 a.m. at the intersection off Desert Inn and Cimarron roads. The child had been taken to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver who had hit the child had been taken into custody, police had said, ”as impairment had been suspected at that time.” Members of the public had been asked to avoid the area while the incident had been under investigation.

This had come just a day after a similar collision in the southwest valley had left a local 11-year-old with life-threatening injuries. In that case, police had said the driver had remained at the scene and impairment had not been suspected.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
