Critical injuries to victims in accident involving stolen vehicle

On Saturday morning, a southern valley collision involving four vehicles resulted in multiple hospitalizations. Las Vegas Metro Police reported that the incident occurred at 4:01 a.m. at the intersection of West Tropicana Avenue and South Jones Boulevard. Evidence, witness accounts, and video surveillance showed that a stolen silver Hyundai was speeding west on West Tropicana Avenue when it entered the intersection on a solid red traffic signal and collided with a red Chevrolet travelling south on Jones Boulevard. The Chevrolet was on a green light. Two other vehicles, a Cadillac CTS and a Toyota Corolla, were stopped facing east in the eastbound left turn lanes at the intersection with a red light. The Hyundai redirected and collided with the Cadillac while the Chevrolet struck the Toyota. Shortly after the incident, an unidentified male in a white sedan arrived and assisted in removing the driver of the Hyundai from the scene before police could intervene. The two other occupants of the Hyundai were taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
