Child on bicycle struck near Cactus Ave and Cliff Lake St

A local youth was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after they were hit by a car in the southwest valley on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 7:43 a.m. in the area of Cactus Avenue and Cliff Lake Street, which is west of Rainbow Boulevard. According to police, a juvenile was riding a bike in that area when they were struck by a car. They were then transported to University Medical Center for treatment.

The driver who hit the bicyclist stayed at the scene and police have stated that impairment is not believed to be a factor in the accident. The current condition of the injured youth is unknown at this time. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
