Accident on Eastern Ave ends with two drivers injured in Las Vegas

On Tuesday evening, two drivers were injured after their vehicles collided in a central valley neighborhood near downtown Las Vegas. According to Las Vegas Metro police, the collision occurred on South Eastern Avenue, at the intersection with Capistrano Avenue at approximately 9:29 p.m. Officers who arrived at the scene determined, based on evidence and witness interviews, that a black Nissan Maxima had been parked along the west curb of Eastern Avenue at the intersection. At the same time, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van had been traveling south on Eastern Avenue in the center travel lane, approaching the intersection and the stopped Nissan. Police reported that the collision occurred when the driver of the Nissan ”attempted to conduct a U-Turn” from the outside travel lane, resulting in the front of the van colliding with the driver’s side of the Nissan. The driver of the Nissan was taken to Sunrise Hospital for ”critical injuries” sustained in the collision, and was also subjected to a DUI investigation. The driver of the van sustained minor injuries and did not show signs of impairment.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
