63 year-old woman pedestrian injured in roadway in Las Vegas, NV
On Wednesday afternoon, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported a tragic incident in which a 63-year-old woman was struck by a pickup truck in a parking lot. The crash occurred in the area of 4955 S. Fort Apache Rd., near the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Fort Apache Road. Evidence collected by police indicates that the driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling north when it collided with the pedestrian. The woman sustained critical injuries and was immediately transported to UMC Trauma for treatment by responding emergency medical services.
The driver, 60-year-old Guy Shigemasa, remained at the scene and did not display signs of impairment. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department`s Collision Investigation Section is currently investigating the incident.

From 2015 to 2019, the number of pedestrian fatalities and fatal crashes generally increased. A total of 378 fatalities and 368 fatal pedestrian incidents occurred on Nevada roadways.
