26 year-old man died in west valley accident near Durango Dr

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that a 26-year-old man died in a west valley crash on Friday morning. The man, yet to be identified, was from Las Vegas and drove a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder. At 10:23 a.m., he attempted to make a left turn from a stop sign on Soneto Lane to northbound Durango.

At the same time, a 19-year-old man, Elkin Meja C., was traveling southbound on Durango Drive in the left-most travel lane of three, north of the intersection with Soneto Lane. He drove a 2011 Hyundai Genesis. The driver of the Nissan crossed into the Hyundai’s path, causing the front of the Hyundai to collide with the driver’s side of the Nissan, overturning it.

Medical personnel arrived at the scene and declared the driver of the Nissan dead from his injuries. He had a passenger with him, a 30-year-old woman from Las Vegas. Elkin had two passengers, a 30-year-old and a 20-year-old, who all reported `minor` injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
