Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run and police are still searching for the driver

On Sunday night, a 54-year-old bicyclist was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident in Las Vegas. Police reported that at 9:14 p.m., the victim was crossing East Lake Mead Boulevard, east of Mt. Hood Street, when a 2016-2017 Honda Accord sedan traveling east at a high rate of speed struck him. The impact threw the bicyclist onto the roadway, and he was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Las Vegas police have since located the Honda Accord believed to have been involved in the collision. However, they are still searching for the driver and are asking for the public’s help to identify them. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Las Vegas police.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
