Suspect flees police involved in several accidents in Reno, NV
Reno Police were involved in a chase June 1st 2023, that ended in an accident at 9th & Virginia Streets. The chase began after Damian Silvanus, the suspect, collided with a utility pole with a U-haul truck in the area of Robb Drive and Sapphire Way. Silvanus then fled the scene of the crash armed with a large machete and attempted to steal another vehicle. After the first victim he approached refused to give him her vehicle, Silvanus returned to the crash site where a good samaritan had stopped to assist. He then stole the idling vehicle of the good samaritan. The pursuit around the west side of Reno included Silvanus driving the wrong-way on I-80. He then left the freeway and attempted to escape on foot into a local business. Police deployed a taser and arrested him, and he is now facing a variety of charges in connection to the accident.
