Police car involved in accident near Virginia St in Reno, NV
On Monday morning, February 19, an officer with the University of Nevada Police Department was injured in a two-vehicle accident in the Reno area. The crash occurred at the corner of N. Virginia Street and 8th Street around 12:30 a.m. Emergency crews were immediately sent to the scene to assist those involved. The officer, who has not been identified, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. Reports indicate that the officer was one of the drivers involved in the accident. At this time, it is not believed that impairment played a role in the crash. The area was temporarily closed while emergency crews were on site. There have been no updates on the condition of the injured officer.
An ongoing investigation is currently being conducted by local law enforcement officials to determine the cause of the crash. As more information becomes available, it will be provided. The University of Nevada Police Department has not released any statements regarding the incident at this time.
