Fresno, CA (July 27, 2020) – A motorcycle rider sustained critical injuries during a car accident at the intersection of Clovis Avenue and North Avenue on Sunday, July 26th.

According to a departmental incident report, local law enforcement officers were notified of the collision via a 911 call at about 9:40 p.m. when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, a white Toyota Camry collided with the motorcycle in the busy Fresno intersection.

Officials from the local fire department and emergency medical personnel both reported to the crash site. Upon arrival, they rendered medical aid to the motorcycle rider who had sustained severe injuries during the collision.

Paramedics then transported the victim to a local trauma center for additional emergency care.

California Highway Patrol officers would not comment on whether or not the driver of the Toyota had been injured as well.

After the accident, crash investigators temporarily closed off the northbound lanes of Clovis Avenue so they could conduct an investigation into cause and liability for the collision.

The accident is still under inquiry at this time. No additional information is currently available.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Motorcycle Injury Accidents in Fresno

Fresno, CA - Motorcyclist Critically Injured in North Ave Wreck

Even though only 3% of all motor vehicles in the United States are motorcycles, they are afforded the exact same rights and courtesies as any other vehicle when they operate on California highways.

The fact that they are sharing the road with motorcycle riders seems to be an easily-forgotten fact among those who drive larger vehicles. As indicated by nationwide data concerning unintentional fatalities and injuries, more than 5,200 motorcycle riders (drivers and passengers) were killed in vehicle collisions in 2016 alone, and over 90% of the crash victims were men.

In that same year, there were approximately 88,000 non-fatal injuries sustained by motorcycle riders. In a report that was published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the rate of motorcycle accidents had finally started to drop at the start of 2013 but then immediately began increasing again.
