Two injured critically after accident with man who stole a metro police car in Las Vegas

Two people were in critical condition and a suspect was taken into custody Tuesday night after the suspect stole a Metro patrol vehicle. At around 11:12 p.m., Metro police responded to a collision at South Rainbow Boulevard and West Hacienda Avenue. Earlier that night, at around 11 p.m., officers had responded to a call regarding a male ”possibly experiencing a mental health crisis” near Blue Diamond Road and South Buffalo Drive. Police identified the man as 29-year-old Clyde Cabulisan of Las Vegas. Upon approaching, the subject reportedly began fighting an officer before taking the officer’s marked LVMPD patrol vehicle. Police pursued the suspect until he crashed into another vehicle at Rainbow and Hacienda. Evidence at the scene and a witness statement indicated to police that the suspect was driving north on South Rainbow, approaching Hacienda, in the stolen patrol car. The suspect proceeded through a red light, and a 2012 Ford Explorer traveled east on Hacienda and entered the intersection on a green light, resulting in a collision. The suspect was taken into custody immediately following the crash and transported by ambulance to the UMC Trauma Center. The two occupants of the Ford Explorer were also taken to the hospital in ”critical condition”.

Help in a Crisis

Following a traumatic event, people often feel helpless, confused, and experience emotional shock. They are confronted with a situation for which they are totally unprepared.

Often there is no one available in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to guide the victims through these difficult hours. The TIP volunteer provides this necessary temporary support until persons involved in the crisis are able to depend on family, friends, neighbors, and other resources in the community.
